Lesson Overview…

[firstname],

This lesson continues to build on previous lessons and show you how you can take just a few notes out of the pentatonic and make more music (licks, solo’s, intro’s, etc.).

Too many times, people think of a scale as only being used for soloing. I want you to stop right now and let this stick in your head…

THAT’S NOT THE ONLY USE FOR A SCALE!

The fact is (and you must train yourself to understand this), a scale can be used to build an intro line before chords, before a chorus, a bridge or anywhere else you are willing to “JUMP OUT OF THE BOX OF OLD TRADITIONAL TEACHINGS”.

Just try it. Try this…

Hit any two notes in the scale, any two… you choose! Pluck them and then immediately hit the A Power Chord for the key you’re playing in. Now pick another two notes, or three or four, and do the same thing… just jump back to your chord. Before long, your ear will start hearing cool progressions and patterns that work.

I get so frustrated when I hear someone take this scale and memorize the notes and then say they’re ready to move on. They never learn to really do anything with it. What a waste!!!

Well [firstname]… You know that won’t be happening around the old “Guitar Farm”.

You can add just a few notes at a time to this and do some AMAZING things! I mean amazing!

Do you realize how many “all time great” solo’s have been built using the pentatonic minor? Thousands! And there will be thousands more created log after I’m dead and gone.

There are numerous tricks we’ll look into in the weeks ahead that will uncover more and more for you when you use this amazing scale.

And you know what?…

We haven’t even talked about the pentatonic MAJOR. I’m telling you [firstname], I have so many cool things that I’m excited to share with you -shortcuts to getting good –quick!

And I have all the confidence in the world you can do this and you can do it well!

Many of these things are sitting right under our noses …but how are we supposed to know –unless someone points them out?

For instance, when we jump over to the MAJOR side of the pentatonic, I’ll show you a trick to do that by eliminating one note, you’ll already know how to play the scale. But, more important than just playing the scale, you’ll be RIPPING through some great licks and falling back to your chords – no problem!

Hang with me a little awhile on this. We’ll jump away from scales and jump back to them. Remember, it’s all part of a special system that I have planned for you.

You’re only two lessons away from a gem of a lesson I call:  “Trip-O-Let” (Magic In 3’s).

This lesson will have you slice through a series of notes in a way that sounds so cool  –you won’t believe your ears or the fact that it’s you playing!

So…

Practice up on today’s lesson and come back through any others that you’ve forgotten.

Take it easy [firstname]…

Jerry
