In 7 Mins or Less!

“Understanding Power Chords” (In 7 Minutes Or Less!) …

Lesson Overview…

Alright [firstname], this is where it starts getting good …and it will only get better from here on in!

Power chords… These little dudes can twist your fingers in knots and give you fits. In fact, these are the very things that will often frustrate a person to the point that they set the guitar down.

Don’t do that because what I’m about to show you in this lesson is a way to make it easier to hold them as well as understand real quick where to play them.

In the lesson you’ll hear me mention the term “Pinch, don’t squeeze”. [firstname], this little trick alone will make it easier than ever to use these things and get past the cramps in your fingers and confusion on the brain.

Watch the video and then make use of the PDF’s down below.

You can do this and just to let you know, it will be laying the foundation for you to really take off in the next few lessons.

Just be patient with yourself and let it sink in. Practice it for ten or fifteen minutes and move it around on the neck of the guitar. If it doesn’t sound perfect to you, that’s alright. Just keep moving it around on the neck. It will start sounding cleaner and cleaner quicker than you ever imagined!

Watch that number 1 finger!!!

It’s your guide and will tell you exactly what root key your playing in. Practice moving it up the neck and making a note to yourself what key your number 1 is telling you your in.

Enjoy and practice up [firstname].

Feel free to join a conversation about the lesson and share your successes.

FINAL THOUGHTS FROM JERRY…

Posted by Jerry from LearnGuitarFastAndEasy.com In The Members Area Q&A Resource Library

Gang, if I hear this once a day, I hear fifty times a day.

“BAR CHORDS GIVE ME PROBLEMS”

Here’s the thing…. We learn them when we first get started. As we get older, the fingers seem to get a little more fussy fro some of us and well, off we go again… back to the drawing board.

So… I wanted to post this tip for everybody. Hopefully it will help you if you’re stuck on bar chords.

YOU CAN DO THIS.

Here’s what I want you to do…

Work on just putting your number 1 finger across the fret board.

Cover every string at the first fret. Now follow me on this…

Let your thumb bend somewhat back on the backside of the neck. To achieve this, focus more on the first joint/bend on your thumb actually pressing into the neck of the guitar.

Now, with your number 1 finger across all the strings, think “PINCH”.

NOT SQUEEZE! Say that out loud my friend.

In other words, instead of thinking of your fretting fingers as squeezing down on the neck or “pressing harder”, think of getting your thumb involved big time and working with your fretting fingers. Think PINCH.

Now that you have the that concept down, do this…

Pluck every string – one at a time. Any dead ones?

IF YES… Check your thumb position again. PINCH! PINCH! SWEAT!!!! PINCH!

Sounds almost like a buttocks workout doesn’t it?

If you have no dead strings, move up one fret and do the same thing.

Continue the process all the way up the neck at each fret. Go to the 10th fret at least.

As you travel further up the neck, watch what begins to happen naturally to your thumb. It will automatically adjust and start moving more away from the bend/joint and closer to the tip and inside edge of the thumb.

Don’t fight it. Let it do that.

Now that we’ve made it to the 10th fret with no dead strings, it’s time to come back down one fret at a time until we get back at out starting point on the first fret.

Next step… ADD YOUR #3 FINGER AS SHOWN IN THE “A POWER CHORD” LESSON FROM “The Bridge” mini course.

Now you know the drill. Go all the way up the neck again and back down one fret at a time.

Continue this process of adding one more finger out of “A Power Chord” and moving up the neck one fret at a time and plucking each string.

Do this drill for one week, every day, for 30 minutes. Then say “good bye” to having trouble with bar chords.

Take it easy!
