The Magic Of “Front Stage” Part 2

By Jerry Wyatt

The Magic Of “Front Stage” –Part 2

A big SHOUT OUT to all our guitar picking TRIBE!

How’s it going… Welcome to today’s lesson!

You know the drill… READ EVERY WORD OF THE INTRODUCTION BEFORE YOU EVEN THINK ABOUT DOING THE LESSON! Surely you trust me on this by now! :-)

As you know, in our last lesson, we were introduced to “The Magic Of Front Stage”. If you’ve been practicing that lesson (AT ALL), you’re beginning to see exactly how it relates to “The 3 Rules” (T3R).

This stuff isn’t rocket science – at all! It’s the very type of thing you see (or hear) being done in your favorite songs and guitar solos. Nearly every guitarist you (or I) put up on a guitar pedestal relies on this like they do the air they breath.

The more you use it… The more you know how to use it and the end result… You use it naturally, easily, and find yourself playing everywhere on a guitar (electric or acoustic)!

What’s more important is the fact that you’ll start AUTOMATICALLY knocking down the “Top 10 Problems”.

The “Top 10 Problems” is a list that I have compiled over the years of players/students sending in. You’ll probably also be glad to know that you’re not alone, they’ve haunted me too. BUT…

Here’s the thing partner… The “Top 10 Problems” are (what I call) “CROSS RELATED”!

Now don’t just glaze over and let that get past you! Slap yourself in the face, splash some water over your head or BREAK A STRING and make yourself wake-up –and get what I just said there to sink in! I’ll say it again…

The “Top 10 Problems” are “CROSS RELATED”!

So… What EXACTLY does that mean to us a players?

It means that more times than not, when you knock down one of the “Top 10 Problems”, other problems begin to drop like dead flies, your guitar playing catapults to new levels and you start playing better and better – VERY FAST!

And that’s exactly what we want!

… Remember, we want a direct route from here to there WITHOUT  having to go around the barn to do it. Again… NOT ROCKET SCIENCE!

We want to play our favorite songs, guitar solo’s, licks, etc.

And we’d like to be able to play things that sound like “KICK BUTT” guitar instead of mundane notes with no “feel” or meaning. Bet that one sounded familiar!

Well… here’s a little GUARANTEE I CAN PROMISE YOU…

When you eliminate the “Top 10 Problems”, your playing will blow through the roof and you’ll play things you never dreamed you’d play! How’s that for a promise?!!

You “X” out the Top 10 and you can expect the following:

• Know where to go play killer licks and solo’s (as in limitless possibilities)!!!

• You’ll know how to create your own solo’s and licks (and make them actually sound cool instead of boring or choppy like a lost penguin!)!!!

• You’ll end the vicious cycle known as “The Human Failure Trigger” (SIDE NOTE: This will KILL your playing of you don’t know how to beat it!)

• More often than not… You’ll have a DARN GOOD idea of how to play your favorite songs or solos before you even have your guitar in your hands!

• Your friends and family will hear things come out of your fingers and guitar that they won’t believe!

Now.. if you think for one minute that I’m kidding you my friend, just wait and see for yourself!

This is totally unbelievable. I too am self taught. I came across your site and in 3 weeks my playing is unrecognizable. I can’t believe it. Stuff I was struggling with has clicked into place with your great tips and exercises. Thanks a million for giving us your knowledge and tips its great.”

Jason (LGFAE “Full Blown” Student)

Okay, so the big question is… What are the “Top 10 Problems”?….

Here’s what I want you to do… Take a look at the snapshot I’ve created for you below.

This is it. It’s the “Top 10”! It’s been compiled from the comments I’ve received from thousands of players all over the world.

See if any of these things are haunting you! We’re going to start KNOCKING THEM OUT! So stay with me.

After you do that, get on with the lesson (Part 2 of “The Magic Of Front Stage)… IT’S AT THE BOTTOM OF THE PAGE BELOW THE “Top 10”.

After you’ve completed the lesson, I want you to apply this basic concept to all the lessons we’ve covered and… THIS IS IMPORTANT…

Apply “The Triple Factor” to it. You remember “The Triple Factor (A & B or part 1 and 2), right? If not, you can use these handy links to jump around to them.

• The Triple Factor (Part A) CLICK HERE NOW!

• The Triple Factor (Part B) CLICK HERE NOW!

Alright… get on with it. I’ll talk with you in the next lesson.

Take it easy!

~Jerry

  2. Ted Mostert says:

    Jerry,

Played at playing Guitar back at age 14 to 19. Was in a rock band back in 1965 & 66- actually sang lead didn’t play an instrument, voice changed then and now sound like a fog horn. Best friend in those days played many instruments-had and still does have perfect pitch, he showed me enough to get by supporting him on the guitar, chords, we played the first Episcopal Folk Mass in New Orleans, played with an Episcopal youth group that use to tour around the state. Also Played Clarinet from elementary to in my day, junior high. What I”ve learned from you from your free lessons has multiplied what I knew about music at least 4 times or more, it put previous knowledge into prospective.
Thanks so much for your approach it has simplified a lot for me, Don’t know how fast a 64 year old can teach or train his fingers to do what he wants, but you have given me the incentive to keep working at it.

Didn’t play at all from age 22 till 62, pulled out old guitar (1969 Gibson Dove) bought an electric and amp, really trying to get back into it.

    Ted

  6. nick says:

Great stuff I’m sure but I’m stuck at trying to make the barr cords. My long large slender fingers just can’t make the bends. Of course this is slowing me down with your courses. Any suggestions short of surgery?

  7. Rob says:

I am learning lots thanks Jerry, You help me to bring many things into focus.

  8. Steve says:

I’m starting to think it’s critical to learn all the notes on each string. Is this correct? Obviously I can’t use front stage conveniently in real time if I have to flounder around looking for a particular note. Am I right about this? Thank you.

  9. jaquan says:

think you jerry for the lssson i am going to do ever thing

  10. Lex says:

I am too sad that I’m going to college within a few months and I’m staying in a student’s home, so it would be so difficult to continue with your Full Blown course. Hope you’ll be there when I come home for breaks. You really helped me more than any teacher did (and I’m not talking about guitar teachers) and I’ll do anything to carry on with your courses.

  11. HEY ya gotta love it. my wife thinks i am a mid life crisis on legs at this time of my life eagerly awaiting another fix of guitar workshop time with you dude. thanks to you i am sticking to my guitar like glue all the time. hey yes i am increasing the speed of my playing, and using a lot more of the neck and slowly building little licks and joining them together. Thanks dude.

    Hello Jerry,
Does this technique works on all other chords? Or does it only works on power chords?
When can I use this technique? I mean in which part of the song? Plz gimme an example.
    Thanks in advance!

    NOTE FROM JERRY

Yes… my friend! Apply it to any chord!!! Keep an eye on your inbox!

    Hi Jerry,

Thanks for the FREE lessons. I love your method of teaching, and your info is great.

Do you have a DVD of your lessons for sale? I don’t have a lot of free time to practice right now, so a DVD would be perfect for when I do have time.

Thanks again and have a great year!

  24. peter says:

hi jerry….. well ya did it again man, you keep on blowing me away. thanks again for my last lesson, ive gotta tell ya jerry,,, ive never enjoyed playing so much. my guitar is rairly out of my hands now, keep on rocking…peter

  25. Vince says:

    God bless Jerry!

Man, I have been playing off and on over the past 20 years, mostly self-taught with a little help from band-mates, friends. You see I am more of a drummer than a guitarist. The cool thing about guitar is that you can play anywhere unlike drums, so I love it. Anyway, what you have shown me in the just a few lessons has made some major light bulbs go off in my head…Thanks and God bless…Vince

  26. OB says:

I’ve been watching your videos and have a tect problem. The video doesn’t play through. There are twenty to thirty second brakes right in the middle of the lesson. That makes it hard to learn anything. I would also recommend a bit more light on the guitar and to zoom in on your hands to better see what you’re trying to get accross to us. I hope you consider this information and not take it as criticism. I don’t know where to place the blame with regard to the video interruptions on email or cable.
    Thanks
    OB

    NOTE FROM JERRY AT LEARNGUITARFASTANDEASY.COM…
    OB,
Thanks for the comment. Absolutely no offense taken. I’m always glad to hear what you guys and gals are seeing on your end and how I can do a better job. Unlike a typical instructor/student relationship that can seem stagnant and only important when it comes time to collect a monthly check, I’m here, I’m real and I’m very concerned that you progress.

I’ll take your suggestion into consideration for all future videos.

As for the delays, it sounds like your connection may be slow. Try clicking the play button and turning the volume to where you want it. I’ve noticed that sometimes that online videos (in general) will lag if you start “fiddling” with the volume while they are streaming/playing.

So, after you click play, set the volume and then click “Pause”. Now allow the video to continue to load. You’ll see the little bar to the right of the play button continue ahead. Once it gets about 2/3rds of the way across, click play. This can help.

    Thanks again.

    Jerry

  27. MARK says:

JERRY, I MOST TELL YOU THAT I WAS JUST WAITING FOR YOU TO SAID “THAT’S ALL FOLKS” AND LEAVE US PICKERS A LONE AND HANGING LIKE SO MANY WEB PAGE LESSONS DO !!!!!! YOU ARE A GREAT PERSON THAT I FEEL I CAN COUNT ON TO KEEP HIS WORD. THANK YOU VERY GOD BLESS YOU AND WHAT YOU ARE DOING FOR ALL OF US PICKERS OUT HERE. P.S. 53 YRS OLD AND FINALLY HAVE THE AND TOOLS AND TELANTS TO PLAY GUITAR .

  28. Wes B says:

Great stuff Jerry. Ive been blessed with finding your site and its helping me every step of the way. Now all I need to do is get my picking hand to move the right way, any suggestions would be great

  29. Bryan says:

Hey Jerry I think that your web site is one of the best to learn guitar from because I just started playing about a week ago and have already got a couple of songs down and its because of your videos.I’ve had a few people tell me that the odds of me learning to play left handed are stacked against me because I’m a right handed person trying to learn left handed and the reason why I’m trying to learn left instead of right is because I didn’t have to pay for the guitar.I traded my psp for a left handed les paul. Thanks to your videos it doesn’t really matter what hand you use.Thank you so much for doing what you do!

  30. Lynn says:

This is an incredible lesson! Combining this with what you showed in the Part 1, I’ve practiced this about a week now and you were exactly right. I’m seeing things open up like crazy. Your lessons are so helpful and just make sense. I don’t know about anybody else commenting here but for myself, I like sliding these front stage positions around up past the 12th fret. It’s a little tough at first but once you get past the tightness, it sounds beautiful.

Thanks for another easy and very useful lesson Jerry.

    I’m here to stay.

    Lynn

  31. Michael Harmon says:

Jerry as I work on the front stage for both the A and D power chords I can see the possibilities for improvising while still having the sound make sense. I’m really anxious to see where this goes next because right now I’m stuck, just as you mentioned, only improvising when I’m working on scales because I’m sick of doing scales. So I’ll change up the rhythm, bend, hammer, pull-off, etc. The reason I’m only doing this with scales though is because i am so familiar with them. I think I just need a kick in the… to start experimenting with lead patterns. Please let me know if I’m missing something. I really enjoy these lessons!

    Best,

    Mike

  32. Jimbo says:

    Excellent. Nuff said!

  33. Kelly says:

I’ve been playing for three years now. All I can say is thanks Jerry.

Obviously, this is very easy to do but in the three years I’ve played (and taken lessons), I’ve never had this shown to me and it’s so obvious. You’ve made this super easy to understand. Everyone wanting to truly advance in their playing should consider your methods of teaching as a -must have-. Never boring and always very informative and useful with a perfect mix of kindness and humility.

    Thanks.

    K.

  34. Lee says:

    J…

Man, I’m just sitting here at my desk and got an email from you about the new lesson. I was thrilled to open it up and watch it. Can’t wait to get home to my guitar.

I love your idea about front stage. The last lesson was excellent as well as the ones before it. This just seals things up even more.

Please post about a members area where we can get our hands on more of what you have to offer.

    CC

By the way, I’m glad to hear that you have things set up to handle more. I’ve sent three friends and they are overjoyed. One has pretty much fires her old instructor. Her name is Lesly. Watch for her comments. She has progressed like wild and I’ve seen it firsthand.
