Hi Jerry, I tried your free mini course sometime ago. It really helpd me to see and hear and learn the notes on the fretboard. I was having trouble with my eye-sight, because of parkinson’s, and you told me to memorize the “E” string and by doing that, you’ll be learning 2 strings along the fretboard….and you’ll know where to go. Your teaching worked because i tried it. I would close my eyes and listen to each fret “note” starting with the Open 1st “e”, fret 1 to 12. Then i did the same with string 6 Open “E” and repeat. Those exercises really opened up the fretboard for me and I’ve told folks how and what you told me to practice….always telling folks, Mr Jerry Wyatt taught me this method.
I need to keep practicing and i need to each day. The parkinsons hits me hard sometimes, but i listen to old favorite songs and then say to myself …”you can try that…you can play it….dont you remember Jerry said “break it down, note for note….learn 3 notes, then the next 3, then the next 3….and dont move on till you can play that song, riff, or solo. When the depression hits, I have let my guitar sit on the stand for months….but i know i need a “kick in fret”….I dont want to let PD rob me of the joy I feel when holding and playing the guitar.
Thank you Jerry for all your lessons.
